How does the gluten-free diet work?

The gluten-free diet involves eliminating all foods that contain gluten, precisely. Gluten is a generic term that indicates the deposit proteins present in many cereal plants, in which it binds water and acts as protection for the plant itself. It avoids, in fact, that this is eaten because it is difficult for natural predators to digest.

Gluten in food products acts as a thickener and elasticizer, but in people suffering from blindness or intolerance it can cause inflammation of the mucous membrane of the intestine. In these cases it is absolutely necessary to opt for gluten-free products.

Important! In the long term, the gluten-free diet should only be followed if there is a medical condition. Giving up gluten does not automatically help you lose weight and does not mean eating healthy. Several studies have shown that this type of diet does not benefit people who do not suffer from intolerance. If you want to find out more, don’t miss this article.

This macronutrient is essential for a balanced diet, as well as fats and proteins, regardless of what your sports goal is: weight loss or muscle growth. The rule of thumb is: a little bit of everything in moderation, so in our opinion cereals should not be removed from the diet.
